We are closing in on midnight, nearly Monday morning. Everyone is excited to finally get home. We stopped in Chamberlain, S.D., for supper at McDonald's. Everyone was looking for a "Welcome Home Derek West" sign as we pulled into his hometown, but nothing up yet.
Finished supper and began our last leg of the tour home. Currently on highway 23 about 20 minutes from home.
It's been a pleasure to post throughout this championship week for SMSU baseball and all our loyal fans. I thank you all for the comments that you've posted on this blog and also through e-mail and phone. It was a blast, just like it was on the trip to Springfield, Mass.
It was a memorable week for our ball players and something they'll never forget. A chance to play at a great ballpark, against great teams and show everyone that you can compete was tremendous thing for everyone involved.
Fans, you'll be happy to know the team was true class the whole week and represented SMSU in a positive way to everyone in Grand Junction.
I hope everyone has a great summer and remember to support SMSU athletics in any way you can. Booster club membership, season tickets, golf classic participant, in-kind donations to facilities, etc. We love your support.
